Narrative Description of Assignment:
Africa Research in Sustainable Intensification for the Next Generation (Africa RISING) was coined in 2012 as part of the United States government-wide Feed the Future initiative to uncover appropriate and effective solutions to address the root causes of hunger, poverty and malnutrition on the African continent. Africa RISING seeks to create opportunities for smallholder farm households to move out of hunger and poverty through sustainably intensified farming systems that improve food, nutrition, and income security, particularly for women and children, and conserve or enhance the natural resource base. The Phase I of the project was evaluated in late 2015 and early 2016. As part of the project activities, Devtplan Consult was contracted to collect data from 1300 project beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries from 62 communities in five (5) regions. These 1300 households were all part of the baseline surveys in 2015/2016.
